Incoming Freshmen, Transfer Students, and Current Undergrads

Here’s a breakdown of your financial aid options, costs, and other important things to know.

Once you've enrolled in a minimum required number of units, you may be eligible for the following financial aid programs. Just keep in mind that the type of student you are determines the type of aid you could be up for (more on that later).

Thinking about Summer Session as a graduate student?

When it comes to Summer Session financial aid for graduates students, it’s all about the William D. Ford Direct Loan. Once you've enrolled in a minimum required number of units, you can choose from an Unsubsidized or a Graduate PLUS William D. Ford Direct Loan. If you had eligibility for loans during the academic year, we encourage you to utilize those funds to assist with your summer costs.

How do I apply for summer session?

Let's break down the steps, whether you're an entering freshman, continuing student, entering transfer student or graduate student.

Types of Aid for Undergraduate Students

You have several options when it comes to paying for Summer Session, just keep in mind that the type of student you are determines the type of aid you could be up for.

What if your enrollment changes?

If you make changes in enrollment, including dropping units or changing sessions, you may be billed for the funds you’ve received. If you withdraw from all Summer Session classes, you’ll be billed for the financial aid you received. You’ll still be responsible for the $183 non-refundable campus fee and all other applicable non-refundable fees. Enrolling in additional classes or sessions won’t increase your financial aid eligibility. Ask your financial aid counselor how an enrollment change will affect your summer aid.

You need to accept your financial aid on time in order to pay fees. You also need to:
  • Submit an Application for Summer Session Financial Aid. (See "Applying" section above.)
