Alan Pattee Scholarship Act


The Alan Pattee Scholarship Act provides an exemption towards mandatory systemwide tuition and fees for the children or spouses of California law enforcement officers or firefighters who died in the line of duty.

Who Can Apply

Students that are a surviving spouse or surviving child of a deceased person of law enforcement personnel or firefighters who are residents of CA and who were killed as a result of performance of official duties. Based on the 1970 Assembly Bill 338, or the Alan Pattee Scholarship Act, that was passed by the 1970 California Legislative Session. Students who are eligible to complete a FAFSA or California DREAM Application, must apply annually.

Annual Amount

Eligible for an exemption towards mandatory systemwide tuition and fees.
Must file a FAFSA or California DREAM Act Application annually.

Enrollment Requirements

Must be enrolled at least half-time.
